Prince Warden and the Dragon Stones: Repdrillian Chronicles Book 1 by Hannah Stanfield- Prince Warden has always dreamed of traveling to see the fantastical creatures he’s read about. A traveling caravan offers a chance for him to see them, until a neighboring kingdom is attacked and he’s confined to the castle. The same flying repdrillian that kidnapped the heir to the neighboring kingdom, Princess Furria, are suspected to attack his own kingdom, but Prince Warden refuses to miss out on the chance to have some adventure. He sneaks out to the carnival but danger is closer than anyone expected and he’s just about to get more adventure than he ever planned on. Princess Furria is feeling abandoned and small in the hands of the repdrillian. But when she’s handed over to a human rebel leader named Basterwick, she starts to realize that there’s more to her kidnapping. A deal for dragon eggs between Basterwick and the repdrillian puts both Warden and Furria’s kingdoms at great peril – they must find a way to save both before it’s too late.
~I was excited to be part of the street team (helping spread the word about it) for this debut novel of Hannah’s! I thoroughly enjoyed following Warden’s journey from a prince longing for adventure to actually living out that dream and finding that it’s not quite all he imagined it to be. Of course, he wasn’t imagining rebels and repdrillian’s to be part of it either… Anyway, I also enjoyed Furria’s story from seeing her in the hands of the repdrillian. All in all, this was a delightful story filled with character development that gave wonderful moral lessons without smacking the reader in the face. The world was well-developed and interesting and I look forward to the next in the series. I’d definitely recommend this, especially to teen readers.
