Today is day 5 of the Blog-tember challenge over at Brave Love. If you want, check out my first and second posts!!
So, today’s prompt is ‘I’m passionate about ________”
I am passionate about marriages – learning and strengthening my own and as time goes on I want to encourage other women as well! I am passionate about healthy living – although I do not do all ‘they’ suggest and recommend, I am getting better every year. I am passionate about my faith and learning more of the Jewish life I have married into. =) I am passionate about getting my health back to where it should be. I am passionate about writing, baking, family and reading.
Yesterday, I entered the veritable dragon’s den. The dentist office. *shudder* Now, if you are like my OH, you don’t understand the shudder nor the nerves that just walking in the door created. But, if you are like me, who has only been to the dentist one other time, you understand. OY. I didn’t want to go but this TMJ I’ve got going on has got to stop. Pain, pain and more pain. So, I survived the appointment – (really, they were super nice. i just don’t like people anywhere near my mouth….) and ignoring the suggestion of scheduling a cleaning, I scheduled an appointment to go back to get fitted for a night guard. Joy and happiness in those two words -(not) And a few hours later I went in to my specialized chiropractor, thank heavens! My hip and back were really starting to hurt again so I was glad to have him help ‘straighten’ my body out. Because, apparently, I naturally lean to the left and my hips turn out to the right. Which causes some serious strain on this ‘old’ body…
And then this morning, armed with…well, nothing, I went to the lab to get my blood drawn for a Lyme Disease test. But, for some reason, it took forever and a couple years to get everything ‘set up’ in order for me to do it. I was so glad my mom went with me so I had a distraction from the fact that I hadn’t had time to grab breakfast and that my shorts that I’ve been wearing all summer seemed to have gotten smaller and shorter in the past few weeks (probably from some weight gain, who can resist desserts?? and not wearing them for a few weeks…but anyway). They were super sweet about the wait, apologized profusely and even gave me a ‘coupon’ for the coffee shop downstairs. Since I have had multiple blood draws over the years, that part wasn’t a problem and we were out the door in no time. So, now we wait for the results. And if it isn’t Lyme Disease? I have no idea. Will have to discuss that with the doctor (naturopath/acupuncturist) when I go in next week.
So there’s a little update on my doctors’ visits this week. I was able to have a lovely time with a new-ish friend a few days ago in Portland and I look forward to living near her in the near future. Favorite part of coming home this week? My dog’s face when I pulled up in the driveway. Ears perked up, smile on her face and tail a-wagging. Sigh. Happiness.
What are you passionate about?? Or what was your favorite part about this week?
I’m right there with you when it comes to the dentist. Yikes. I hate it and I avoid it if at all possible. Ha! As for the Lyme Disease…I was diagnosed last year. I’m sure you’ve done your research…and if you have, you’ll know that mainstream CDC testing has the highest number of false negative tests. And if you think you’ve had Lyme Disease for years and you haven’t been recently infected, then treatment is going to be a challenge. I did a series on Lyme Disease on my blog if you want to check it out or you can also email me at glutenfreezen@hotmail.com if you have any questions. I’m certainly no doctor but I’ve done a TON of research. ~ April 🙂

It’s definitely a journey. You need to be highly symptomatic to receive positive test results. The problem is, the lyme bacteria is a super bug. It has a biofilm allowing it to hide from not only your immune system, but testing and antibiotics. Getting the little buggers when they are breeding (when you are highly symptomatic) is key. Blessings to you on your journey to health. ~April
